Batheaston Parish Council is committed to making this website accessible, in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This statement applies to the pages published at batheastontimes.co.uk.

How accessible this site is

We believe this website is fully compliant with the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. Every page is built to be:

• readable at 200% zoom, and when text spacing is increased;
• navigable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link;
• legible, with body text set at 18px or larger and colour contrast meeting AA;
• usable in both light and dark modes, following your device setting;
• respectful of a reduced-motion preference, with animation switched off;
• usable without JavaScript — every contents list is plain HTML, and every issue opens as a PDF; only the optional page-turning view and the season filter need scripts.

Reading the magazine on this site

Each issue is published as a PDF, and the PDFs are maintained by the publisher as accessible documents. There are three ways into every issue:

• The PDF itself — the published file. Open it in your browser or a PDF reader to use its text with a screen reader, search it, or reflow it; or save it to keep.
• The page-turning reader — the same PDF, drawn page by page onto the screen so it can be read like the printed copy. This view is visual: it needs JavaScript, and a screen reader should use the PDF itself or the contents pages instead.
• The contents pages — every article in every issue, with its subject and page number, as ordinary HTML that can be read, searched, zoomed and heard on any device, with or without JavaScript.

If you need the full text of any article in another format — large print, plain text, or read aloud — please ask and we will provide it.

Getting content in another format

Contact the editors at hello@batheastontimes.co.uk. Tell us the issue and the format you need, and we will respond within five working days.

Reporting accessibility problems

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) enforces the accessibility regulations. If you are unhappy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which is the body that handles these contacts.

Preparation of this statement

This statement applies to the rebuilt Batheaston Times website. It was prepared on the publication of that site, and is reviewed whenever a new issue is added. It was last reviewed in July 2026.

The site was tested by hand: keyboard-only navigation, at 200% and 400% zoom, with increased text spacing, in light and dark mode, with and without JavaScript, and with colour contrast measured against WCAG 2.2 AA on all four seasonal palettes.

A note for the editor: update the review date above whenever you check the site, and update the reader section if issues are ever re-made as tagged, accessible PDFs.
